There could be multiple reasons for a blinking red light on your LG TV. It could happen if there’s something wrong with any of the internal components, device temperature, software errors, faulty main board, and power outage. If the problem has occurred on the software side, you can fix it on your end. However, in case of hardware failures, you need to take the TV to the service center or call a technician.

Below are a few effective solutions you can try to fix the red light blinking problem on your LG smart TV. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the first solution.

1. Use the Power Button to Turn on the TV

If your LG smart TV does not turn on but shows blinking a red light, try to turn it on using the power button on the TV. Press the button and wait for a few seconds. If the device turns on without running into any problems, the problem could be inside the TV remote.

2. Restart Your TV

A software bug or system glitch can trigger many issues on your smart TV. It could be the reason why your TV is not turning on but showing blinking a red light. Usually, most software issues get resolved after performing a normal reboot/restart.

Though you can restart your TV using the TV remote, the easiest way is by removing the power cable from the wall outlet and then plugging it back into the port after 30 seconds. Let me know in the comments if the issue is fixed. If not, keep trying other solutions.

3. Power Cycle Your LG TV

This is a slightly advanced version of the normal restart, which we just applied in the above solution. In case that didn’t help, you should power cycle your LG smart TV to check if it works out.

Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Press and hold the power button on the TV for 10 seconds.
  2. Now, unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 2 minutes and then plug the cable back into the wall outlet.
  4. Turn on the TV using the power button or remote.

4. Contact LG Support

If none of the methods worked out for you, there could be hardware damage in your TV. We do not recommend tweaking the hardware. You should contact LG support to get the device fixed.
