Telegram doesn’t send verification code via email. You can only receive a two-step verification code in your email. It’s different from the Telegram login code. But, there are other ways to receive Telegram login codes, which I’ll tell you in this guide.

How to Get Two-Step Verification Code on Your Email

A two-step verification code (also known as 2FA) adds an additional layer of security to your Telegram account. After setting it up, you’ll need to enter this code every time you try to log in after completing your phone verification.

So, even if your phone is in someone’s hand, they can’t log into your Telegram account just by using the verification code sent via text message.

If you forget your two-factor authentication code, you can’t log into your account. You can then use your email (entered while setting up 2FA) to forget the code.

How to set up two-step verification on Telegram:

1. Open the Telegram app.

2. Tap on three horizontal lines in the upper-left corner and click Settings.

3. Tap on Privacy and Security.

4. Select Two-Step Verification.

5. Click Set Password and type your two-step verification password.

6. Enter the password again to confirm.

7. Create a password hint or Skip the step.

8. Enter your recovery email to reset the password when you forget.

9. Enter the verification code received in your email.

The only usage of your email in Telegram is to recover the two-step verification password and nothing else.

Method 1: Get Telegram Code via SMS

Telegram won’t send you the verification code via SMS if you logged into your account on a different device in the past. Instead, it will send you the code on the Telegram app.

To get the code on a text message, click on Tap to get a code via SMS, as shown in the screenshot below.

Method 2: Get Telegram Code on a Call

Most messaging applications offer different login methods, and Telegram is no different. If you don’t receive the code in a text message, you can try the call method.

If you don’t enter the verification code and wait on the same screen for a few minutes, Telegram will show you a voice call verification method. Tap on Call me to dictate the code to get the code on a phone call.

Method 3: Get Telegram Code on Another Device

Remember if you have logged into your Telegram account on a different device? On your laptop, tablet, or any other device. If yes, you can use that device to log into your Telegram account on a different device.

Try to log into your account. Now, grab your logged-in Telegram device to get the verification code. Enter this code on a new device, and you’re done.

Method 4: Scan QR Code

If the above methods do not work, you can scan a QR code to log into your Telegram account on a desktop. To use this method, you need a phone where your Telegram account is already logged in.

1. Go to web.telegram.org on your computer.

2. Open the Telegram app on your phone.

3. Click on the three lines icon in the upper-left corner and click Settings.

4. Scroll down until you see Devices. Tap on it.

5. Tap on Link Desktop Device on your phone.

6. Scan the QR code on your computer to log in.
