Telegram Stories Feature Is Coming Next Month; All Details Inside

The much-awaited Stories feature is coming to Telegram next month. Popular messaging apps including WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Instagram already have this feature and now Telegram is getting into the list.

In a post on his Telegram channel, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov said, “we were against this since Stories are already everywhere. However, Telegram wouldn’t be Telegram if we didn’t listen to our users and didn’t innovate on existing formats.“

He also mentioned that Telegram users were asking to implement the Stories feature for years. It really took Telegram a lot of time to add this feature.

Telegram Stories will work just like Stories on other platforms, but there are some advantages. Stories on Telegram will be placed in an expandable section at the top of your chat list.

The Stories uploader will be able to decide who can see each of their stories – everyone, only your contacts (with exceptions), a few selected contacts, or a list of close friends.

Unlike WhatsApp and Instagram, Telegram allows you to display Stories permanently or you can choose it to expire in 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours. Telegram will also allow you to save your Stories to the profile page.

“The ability to save your stories to the profile page will make Telegram profiles more informative and colorful. You will not only be able to explore more content from your closest contacts, but finally discover more information about users you connect with in groups or channel comments.“, said Pavel Durov.
