Doing this ensures that your phone won’t block Telegram notifications.

You’ve to ensure that Telegram’s in-app settings are not blocking notifications from the app.

Step 1: Open Telegram Settings and click Notifications and Sounds.

Step 2: Enable notifications from chats you want to receive: Private Chats, Groups, Channels, and Stories.

Step 3: Scroll down the page and ensure that Keep-Alive Service and Background Connection are enabled.

3. Unmute Telegram Chats

Even if you’ve applied the above solutions, you won’t receive notifications from chats that are muted. Unmute them to get real-time notifications.

Step 1: Tap on a chat that isn’t sending your notifications.

  • Disable Silent Mode: Press the volume button and then increase the notification sound.
  • Disable DND: Go to Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb and disable it.
  • Disable Focus Mode: Go to Settings > Digital Wellbeing to disable Focus mode.

Uninstall the Telegram app and install it again from the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS). Log into your account and enjoy timely notifications.

Fix Telegram Notifications Not Working Issue [Windows]

If you’re using Telegram web, you’ll need to give notification permission and always keep the tap open to get notifications.

If you’re using the Telegram app on Windows, skip the first solution.

1. Pin the Tab & Allow Notification Permission

If you’re using Telegram web, you must keep the tab open to get notifications. Also, you must enable notification.

Open the Telegram web and log into your account. Now, tap on the site information icon and select Site settings.

Select Allow from the dropdown next to Notifications.

Accidentally, you might close this tab, and then you won’t get notifications. To avoid this, pin the tab. For this, right-click on the Telegram web tab and select Pin.

2. Unmute Telegram Chats

If you’re not receiving notifications from specific chats, they are probably muted.

Here’s how to unmute chats in Telegram:

Step 1: Tap on a Telegram chat that isn’t sending you notifications.

Step 2: Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and select Unmute.

If the Telegram chat(s) was muted already, unmuting it should send you notifications for upcoming messages.

3. Check Telegram Settings

You must ensure that the Telegram web or app on your Windows has correct in-app notification settings. A misconfigured Telegram app is unlikely to send you notifications on time.

[On Telegram Web]

Step 1: Open Telegram Web and go to Settings.

Step 2: Click Notifications

Step 3: Enable Web notifications.

[On Telegram App]

Step 1: Open the Telegram app and go to Settings.

You’ll still not get Telegram notifications if the app isn’t allowed to send notifications. Check the notification permission from the Windows Settings.

Step 2: Tap System and select Notifications.

Step 3: Ensure that the toggle is enabled for Telegram.

5. Disable DND

Similar to smartphones, enabling Do Not Disturb (DND) on Windows doesn’t notify you of any notifications. Disable it if it’s already enabled.

Step 1: Press the Win + I buttons together to open Settings.

Step 2: Tap System and select Notifications.

Step 3: Disable Do not disturb.

After disabling DND (if it was enabled), you’ll get every notification from Telegram on your Windows computer.

6. Restart Your Computer

Sometimes, minor issues occur with the Telegram app that can cause problems with receiving notifications. To fix them, all you need to do is restart your computer.

6. Reinstall the Telegram App

If you’re still not receiving notifications for incoming messages on Telegram, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app as the last resort.

Step 1: Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.

Step 2: Type appwiz.cpl and click OK.

Step 3: Right-click on Telegram Desktop and select Uninstall.

Step 4: Select Yes to remove Telegram from your computer.

Step 5: Download the Telegram Desktop app from the official website.
