Save to Gallery Option Not Available in Telegram [Solved]

Can’t save your favorite photos or videos from Telegram to your phone gallery? A lot of Telegram users are facing issues with the “Save to gallery” option. Those affected say they can’t save files to the gallery because the “Save to gallery” option is not available in Telegram.

If you are also struggling to save Telegram photos and videos to your gallery, don’t worry. There are other ways to do this which I will uncover in this easy step-by-step guide.

If you can’t save photos and videos from a Telegram group/channel, it’s because the administrator has restricted saving content. But still, you can save them to your gallery.

How to Fix if Save to Gallery Option Not Available in Telegram

Telegram group/channel owners can restrict users from saving photos and videos. If you don’t see the “Save to gallery” option, it means that the restriction has been applied to that group/channel. But, there are two ways you can still save the media to your phone’s gallery.

Method 1: Using a Telegram Bot

Using a Telegram bot you can save videos from a restricted group or channel to your gallery. The bot we’ll be using is Save Restricted Content.

[Note: This bot does not work for photos. If you want to save photos, use Method #2.]

Step 1: Add Save Restricted Content bot to your Telegram.

Step 2: To use the bot, you need to join the Save Restricted Content channel.

Step 3: Send the private channel invite link. It is required for the bot to access the channel. Not required for public channels.

Step 4: Go to the Telegram channel and copy the post link. On Android, tap on the three-dot icon on the video and click Copy Link. Windows users can right-click on the video and click Copy Post Link.

Step 5: Go to the Save Restricted Content bot and paste the link.

Step 6: Wait for a few seconds. It will send you the video. Click the three-dot icon and tap Save to Gallery.

Hurray! The video is now saved to your gallery.

Method 2: Using a File Manager

Even if you can’t save Telegram photos and videos to the gallery, they are still saved on your device. But, they are hidden. You can access the hidden folder and copy files to another folder to view them in the gallery.

Step 1: Download and install Mi File Manager from Google Play Store.

Step 2: Launch the app and allow necessary permissions.

Step 3: Go to the Files tab and tap on Android. [If you can’t see the Android folder, tap on the three-dot icon and select Show hidden files.]

Step 4: Tap on Data. [On newer Android versions, you can’t directly access the Data folder.] Tap on View in Files.

Step 5: Go to Android -> data -> org.telegram.messenger.

Step 6: Tap on files -> Telegram -> Telegram Video. To view images, select the Telegram Image folder.

If you don’t see the “Save to gallery” option, it does not mean there’s something with Telegram. The option has been disabled by the group or channel owner.
