Point to Note:
Street Fighter 6 partially supports controllers. So, at times, they won’t work and you’ll have to use your keyboard instead.
Apply the below solutions one by one until the problem is fixed. Happy troubleshooting!
1. Check Steam Input Settings for SF6
If your controller is not working, probably the Steam input is disabled. Enable it using the steps below:
- Launch Steam on your PC.
- Go to Library.
- Right-click on Street Fighter 6 and select Properties.
- Go to the Controller tab.
- Tap on Use default settings and select Enable Steam Input from the dropdown.
- Close Steam and Launch it again.
- Launch the game.
If the controller is still not working, select Disable Steam Input in Step 5. It has worked for a few users. So, it’s worth a try.
2. Restart Your PC
Your PC might not be recognizing the controller due to minor software bugs or glitches. Restarting the device often fixes these issues. Try this on your PC and do let us know if it works.
3. Connect Your Controller Again
If you are using a USB controller, a loose connection could be causing the problem. Unplug it from your PC. Before you plug it in again, make sure to close Street Fighter 6 and Steam.
Launch the game to check if the controller is working again.
4. Power Cycle Your Controller
Power cycling the controller is a quick remedy to fix common issues with the device. Disconnect your controller from the computer and turn it off. After 2 minutes, turn it back on and connect to the PC.
Now, launch the game to see if the problem persists.
5. Run Steam in Big Picture Mode
Controllers work best with Steam games in Big Picture Mode. If you are running the game in the standard desktop client, switch to the Big Picture Mode and check if it can fix issues with the controller.
Click the rectangle icon with two opposing arrows (see the screenshot below) to enter the Big Picture Mode. This icon will appear after launching the game in the standard window.
6. Enable Steam Overlay
To fix issues with the controller, Steam recommends enabling the Steam Overlay. Here’s how to do it:
- Launch Steam on your PC.
- Tap on Steam in the top-left corner and select Settings.
- Go to In Game tab and enable the toggle for Enable the Steam overlay while in-game.
Now, launch Street Fighter 6 in Big Picture mode. The controller should work without any issues. However, if the problem persists, you need to try other solutions as well.
7. Calibrate the Controller
The game might not be registering controller inputs. You should calibrate the controller to fix the issue.
- In Big Picture mode, tap on Settings in the top-right section.
- Tap on Controller and select Controller settings.
- Select your Steam controller and click Calibrate.
- Follow on-screen instructions to complete the calibration. Steam recommends calibrating the controller twice.
8. Disable Controller Software
Third-party controller software such as DS4Windows or Xpadder might conflict with Steam controller options. If your PC has such software, uninstall it right now and run Street Fighter 6 to check if the problem is sorted out.
